Essential Skills: A proven Track record operating in a Functional Architect role across more than one business area within Investment banking; A strong background in  consulting on both an internal and external basis; Strong software development background; Very strong resource management skills; Expert customer facing skills; Very strong in defining architectural processes within an investment Bank; proven track record of managing Senior Stakeholders.

Desirable Skills: A background in Object Orientated development earlier in your career.

As a member of the Investment banking Application and Functional Architecture team, you will be tasked with acting as a custodian for the overall Architecture landscape within the bank. As well as this you will have responsibility for driving development principles and governance processes with the business IT strategy.

Day to day this role will work with specific product line technical application architects to set up a range of processes within these Product lines to establish key Architectural IT standards; Assemble, develop and gain approval for Architecture principles that can be used to govern application architecture; Produce product line architecture based on info gained from a variety of development and business functions; Contribute to development of an approach document for development of an architecture blueprint; Track open architecture issues; Create service based architectures promoting shared services and common components.

This is very much a traditional Functional architect role but I am looking for someone who understands development. This role will not suit Technical architects who are interested in how and what goes into an Investment Banks technical infrastructure. I am looking for an Architect that formulates processes that help the various development product lines architect their systems. You must be highly client facing, and you will more than likely have a strong consultancy background, which will allow you to be parachuted into any business area at any given point and add value from day one.
