Our client is is one of the world's foremost investment firm's . The role is as an AVP in the Policy, Risk and Regulatory Affairs Team. The individual will be expected to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, flexibility and confidence to make valuable contributions across the team's broad range of responsibilities spanning policy, risk and regulatory affairs, and act as Deputy to the Department Head. A background at a regulator or in a risk or regulatory function at a bank or consultancy would also be extremely valuable.
Core responsibilities: Add significant value across all areas of the team's responsibilities: policy, risk and regulatory affairs. Contribute significantly to the department's policy work: including drafting policies or supervising more junior staff in production of policy, leading stakeholder groups, presenting polices and working with the Reviews team. Support the Department Head in increasing the bank's profile in the City, including on lobbying regulators and through trade bodies (including by membership of various BBA working groups). More generally, act as the deputy to the Department Head, deputising at managers meetings and managing the team in his absence.
Education (Essential): Educated to degree level.
Education (Preferred): Professional qualifications such as SII diploma or other respected qualifications desirable.
Work Experience (Preferred): A background at a regulator or in a risk or regulatory function at a bank or consultancy would also be extremely valuable.
Functional/Technical Competencies (Essential): Strong communication and presentational skills and the presence and confidence to engage with bank senior management and with local regulators. A breadth of knowledge and skills in regulatory compliance and risk, including knowledge of the FSA handbook, and understanding of current initiatives and proposed changes. Proven drafting skills and the nous to pull together, often at short notice, briefings for senior management, and responses to regulatory papers.
