Business Continuity/Operational Risk Manager - VP (London, Canary Wharf)

Job Description:

This position is responsible for the leadership, monitoring, and delivery of standardized Business Continuity and Incident Management methodologies and program management. This position is also responsible for Operational Risk analysis and assessment ensuring Operational Risk profiles are produced, effective governance and control frameworks are maintained and that risks/issues are reported and escalated appropriately.

The primary responsibility is to partner with business areas to ensure identification of critical business processes, formulation/implementation of effective recovery strategies, and mitigation of operational risks.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Continuity
? Manage SSgA Continuity Program as a relationship manager for EMEA and continuity subject matter expert providing clarity, definition and guidance
? Participate in the development, modification and execution of SSgA policies regarding continuity planning that may affect immediate operations and may have company impact
? Manage the execution of the SSgA Continuity Program to ensure program is providing a consistent approach throughout the enterprise and that deliverables are completed and in accordance with goals
? Identify continuity risks to business by reporting continuity status of each business line in manner appropriate for executive assessment and understanding
? Integrate all lines of business into process continuity model to provide end to end understanding of interdependencies to enhance availability and protection of business process across the SSgA
? Interact with SSgA senior management to understand business requirements and communicate strengths and weaknesses of plans
? Perform business impact analyses / risk assessments, formulate recovery strategies, document business continuity plans, conduct outage exercises, and implement maintenance and continuous improvement schedules
? Participate in global pandemic preparedness planning and implement crisis and incident management programs across EMEA
? Assist in the preparation of enterprise-wide BCM leadership communications and briefings

Operational Risk
? Work with all business units to ensure that the risks and issues identify, assess and action are clearly assigned ownership and that owners understand and execute their responsibilities effectively.
? Deliver incident reporting ensuring Operational Risk Team is in compliance with EMEA Risk reporting policy as regards to investigating, reporting and rectifying any operational incidents resulting from control gaps, weaknesses or other deficiencies.
? Facilitate Risk Management Self Assessment and Plans and provides commentary on operational risk issues to the assigned Enterprise Risk Management Officer
? Provide Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) risk assessment with Finance Team
? Develop and maintain close ties with Business Units to ensure informal early warning communication channels in place to identify business developments that potentially impact the Corporation's Operational Risk profile.
? Collaborate and Interact across State Street business entities in relation to Operational Risks within EMEA Corporate Risk.
? Collate incidents from across front office and support areas. Ensure all failings are identified, suitable actions are identified and implemented and that any lessons learned are applied across all businesses.
? Develop Key Risk Indicator methodology and reporting
? Execute ad hoc project work and special investigation as needed or requested
? Deputise for the EMEA Head of Operational Risk as appropriate in cross business control forums.
? Help deliver the operational risk management framework
? Assist in the development of a communication and awareness strategy

Experience / Educational background
? Proven relevant experience with experience implementing Business Continuity Management (BCM), Operational Risk and / or Operations with a large multinational organization or management consulting firm principally for asset management functions within the financial services industry
? Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferably in business office administration. Masters Degree in relevant technical discipline or MBA desired
? Strong track record in risk management - Basel II exposure/knowledge an advantage
? Experience in either preparing or participating in the key risk identification for an ICAAP regulatory submission
? Strong awareness of control and risk management concepts and practice is desired but not a prerequisite
? Professional certification from the Disaster Recovery Institute, International (DRII) or the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) is desirable. DRII certifications may be either MBCP or CBCP. BCI certifications may be either FBCI or MBCI

Required Skill sets:
? Demonstrated experience implementing capability assessments, business impact analyses / risk assessments, formulating recovery strategies, documenting business continuity plans, and conducting exercises for manufacturing function
? Strong project planning and management experience
? Demonstrated ability to build partnering relationships across the company at all levels be persuasive, good listener and assimilator of ideas and perspectives
? Proven ability to establish and manage “dotted-line” business relationships to deliver agreed outcomes/deliverables
? Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel across the organization
? Ability to think strategically yet also ensure the appropriate level of details are captured and managed to ensure global resiliency
? Proven ability to communicate clearly and appropriately based on audience with excellent facilitation and customer service skills
? Ability to deliver briefings and presentations to senior management and clients
? Proven interpersonal, organisation and communication skills
? Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems and develop solutions. Ability to manage details while maintaining a strategic view. Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and change
