A world renowned technology firm serving the financial industry, is seeking high calibre finance professional to start up and head its operation center in Shanghai.

Our client is a famous technology organization with strong presence worldwide. They operate technology centres in UK, India and most recently in China. To meet their expansion demands, they are inviting applicants fulfilling these requirement to join as Head, Finance based in Shanghai.

The candidate is expected to have in-depth knowledge of consolidation systems, SAP and others, which are complex and where the make-up and origin of consolidated data requires tracking. This person is responsible for correcting errors and misstatements, providing input to projects, analysing change requests, and providing change impact analysis across the business area.

Job Purpose

  • Lead the annual financial planning, analysis and updates
  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and forecasts as required by the senior management, provide a detailed understanding of PRC GAAP, IFRS and accounting guidelines
  • Be the subject matter expert in all aspects of the financial control framework, regulatory framework and provide guidance on standards, policy and governance to colleagues in China and BUSINESS Finance
  • Optimize the cash flow situation for the company, manage & direct the billing and collections & inter-company charges
  • Specific responsibilities will include Internal & External Audit and Tax & Compliance, ensuring the tax position is optimised within legal bounds
  • Establish the internal control system and be responsible for compliance with SOX 404, statutory requirements and relative Group policy
  • Responsible for staff development in the Finance Department
  • Deal with ad hoc services, complex queries or analysis, where expertise is required
  • To identify and foster best practice across business Finance
  • Playing a leading role in the leadership and management of the area, this includes driving business and financial performance through the setting of financial strategy, integrating it with the business strategy and setting appropriate targets and challenges

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides financial analysis on a wide range of technical and business issues in connection with the jobholder’s area of responsibility, e.g. variances to forecasts, trends, impact of accounting regulations and impact of investment decisions
  • Investigates the implications of accounting practices and tax regulations as they are updated or amended, ensuring that the entity remains compliant with local and international regulators and guidelines
  • Actively develops a culture of continuous improvement. Proactively reviews processes, procedures and requirements on a regular basis, identifies areas for improvement and actively drives through the necessary changes
  • Helps stakeholders to understand performance through analysis, e.g. trend and variance analysis over long periods, drilling down to source data
  • Work as an effective leader of a team. Take personal responsibility to identify areas of performance improvement for self and team. Actively share knowledge learnt
  • To manage and motivate direct reports, identifying individual and team development needs and providing coaching and recommending and / or arranging training


Selection criteria

  • Bachelors degree or above (preferably related to Accountancy).
  • At least 8 years of progressive financial experience through the controller level, with international company exposure
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and tax regulations in PRC; Accountancy qualification, must be accredited in China, CPA
  • Membership with these international bodies ACCA, ACA, CIMA .Knowledge of UKGAAP.
  • Familiar with generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting with the emphasis on job costing, background in business taxation
