My client who is a very successful financial institution is seeking to fill a Linux System Administrator role in a multinational and 24x7 infrastructure support group. This is a hands-on position that requires in-depth knowledge of Red Hat and/or CentOS Linux in a 24X7 production environment as well as Corp Windows AD and desktop user support.  The right candidate for this role should be highly self-motivated and have demonstrated a high degree of proficiency in her/his profession. This job requires early and late shift rotations and off-business/weekends on-call support. This position reports into an international technology support team located at corporate headquarters in New York City and matrixes into local management in London. Installing, configuring and maintaining computing infrastructure, operating systems, and software products on Linux computing platforms in support of 24/7 business processes. The position involves being on-call on an escalation basis for support of worldwide market hours, and will regularly include off-hours maintenance and implementation work. Responsible for implementation and support of operating systems and/or product solutions for optimum performance, stability, reliability, security, etc. This includes various computer systems. This position will help us ensure that we are meeting the company's business needs for failure and/or problem notification. Supporting user Windows desktops and office applications. 2- 5 years in the Linux/Unix systems administration field, performing systems administration and troubleshooting, preferably in the financial industry, and in an environment where security and availability are of very high priority. Degree in CS or equivalent experience. Extensive experience with Linux, particularly RedHat. Should be familiar with all aspects of administration and troubleshooting, unattended installation (should be very familiar with PXE/Kickstart installations), prominently used NIC teaming or bonding. Exposure to environments that feature a wide variety of applications; database, web servers (apache and tomcat), application servers, packet filters, and the like. You should have a solid traditional systems administration skill set including but not limited to: ssh, sendmail and mailing systems, DNS, GFS, packet filtering concepts(netfilter), backups and restorations using various tools, NFS, DNS, NTP administration, and the like. Experience with shell scripting in bash and/or Perl. Should be an expert with emergency intervention on Linux/Intel-based systems. Should be familiar with a wide variety of commonly found Intel hardware and its capabilities. A detailed understanding and expertise with maintaining high-quality monitoring infrastructure. SNMP knowledge is required. Previous experience with supporting and deploying Oracle databases is a plus. Working experience with enterprise storage systems EMC Clariion and FC switches.
