SCIENTIST/RESEARCHER – Oxford
Winton seeks gifted applied scientists who have experience working with large, real-world data sets in a first-class research environment. The role will be based at Winton’s offices in either London or Oxford and candidates should have at least 2 years commercial/post doc experience and a PhD in an Applied Science (Statistics, Physics, Econometrics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics etc). We are especially interested in gifted scientists who have exceptional data analysis and programming abilities.
The role involves:
- Processing and analysing large datasets (sometimes terabytes in size) to detect signals and assess stationarity. - Using applied statistical techniques to design and develop quantitative models which predict price movements. - Acquiring a sophisticated understanding of financial markets and Winton’s proprietary research techniques. - Creating systematic trading strategies.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent quantitative skills, good attention to detail and significant achievement in academia. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate skills in team work and the ability to communicate ideas/results successfully to colleagues. An interest in financial markets and programming skills in SQL, C++, Python, Matlab or R are an advantage.
