In House Operations manager

The Risk Management Division is looking for experienced Operational Risk Manager to join the team in London.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Management, supervision and training of 4 direct reports (3 based in London, 1 based in New York)

Oversight and performance of ongoing control incident and OpRisk loss collation and enrichment processes:
? Review of control incidents and OpRisk losses reported by IB and Shared Services divisions
? Enrichment and categorisation of internal OpRisk loss data for regulatory reporting and OpRisk capital purposes
? Review of external OpRisk-related news articles for use in determination of OpRisk Capital
? Reconciliations between divisional incident collation systems and GOLD (database used for regulatory OpRisk loss reporting)
? Review of New Entity reports, Equity error accounts and quarterly schedules of significant accounting adjustments to ensure completeness of OpRisk loss reporting
? Implementation of training programs covering OpRisk loss reporting for users in IB Front Office and various ShS areas
? Liaison with key OpRisk contacts within IB Front Office and Shared Services areas

Oversight of the production of OpRisk incident and loss reports, including:
? Monthly control incident and incident read-across reports for regional OpRisk forums
? Monthly and quarterly OpRisk loss reports for regional, divisional and firm-wide Risk Management Committees
? Quarterly OpRisk losses reports for Basel 2 reporting and submission to FINMA
? Adhoc reporting and analysis of internal loss data

Involvement in the process of determining scenario parameters used in the calculation of OpRisk Capital:
? Preparation of OpRisk scenario templates outlining factors considered in determining scenario parameters
? Chairing meetings of “business experts” to discuss scenario templates and agree on scenario parameters

Maintenance and development of Incident and Loss collation systems owned by BORO:
? Liaison with Risk IT and prioritisation of allocated Risk IT resources to be used for development and maintenance of BORO systems
? Oversight of development projects for Kintana, the incident reporting system used by IB and ShS divisions, including oversight of the Kintana steering committee
? Initiation of development work for GOLD, including drafting of business specs and sign-off of UAT testing
? Co-ordination of projects involving incident system rollouts

The Risk Management Division is part of the bank-level Shared Services function. Our mission is: To protect the Bank's capital by establishing a strong control environment for our risks. We must understand our risks at all times and work to ensure that our risk capital is deployed wisely for our shareholders. The Risk Management Department acts as an independent 'check and balance' function, but must do so in a spirit of transparency and partnership as we work towards common goals with our colleagues throughout Credit Suisse.

THE ROLE INVOLVES:

Bank Operational Risk Oversight
Helping the Bank understand, assess, challenge and mitigate operational risks, especially for major risks that affect more than one division.

Capital, Reporting & Governance Team
• Communicating best practice solutions throughout the firm and ensuring that lessons learned are shared across the bank
• Developing and implementing methodologies for determining operational risk capital and other management information reporting
• Leading the regulatory and external dialogue on operational risk
• High level communication and reporting to Capital and Risk Management Committee (CARMC)
• Responsibility for internal and external loss data collation across the firm

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST POSSESS:

Essential:

• Degree qualified
• Good understanding of risk and control gained through e.g. Operational Risk role, Internal Audit, SOX404 work, Audit firm
• Competent with MS Excel
• Competent with MS Access / SQL
• Change Management Skills / experience of system development lifecycle
• Organised
• Pro-active, self starter
• Good communication skills, written and verbal
• Works well in a team
• Strong analytical skills
• Attention to detail

Desirable:

• Qualified accountant; or
• Relevant Risk qualification e.g. PRM; or
• Internal Audit qualification
• Experience in Managing a Team
• Experience in a Reporting Role
• Investment Banking industry experience
• OpRisk loss analysis
• Competent with MS PowerPoint
• Strong interpersonal skills
