Our client seeks a German speaking Leveraged Finance Associate to join its team in London.

Role Summary / purpose: 

A great opportunity for someone wanting to join a fast paced Execution team, you will be able to work independently, through the complete deal process.

The team currently focuses on purchasing performing and distressed Senior Debt in the Secondary market and arranging Leveraged deals for Sponsors; however there could also be scope to look at asset based lending deals. 

You would need to demonstrate a strong analytical mindset, in addition to excellent financial modelling skills.  Communication skills are key - both oral and written -with the ability to build key relationship both internally and externally at all levels of management. 

Essential Functions / responsibilities:

  • Analyse, assess and report on the risk-return trade-off of a transaction.
  • Assess deals introduced by origination in "Scope" to establish their suitability for inclusion in the bank's portfolio raising issues and making recommendations, on funding structures and debt prices for example.
  • Assist in internal approvals process for proposed transactions through to execution including:
    • Carry out industry and company research
    • Develop, produce and prepare comparative financial models
    • Evaluate Due Diligence and ensure this has been completed in line with the bank's criteria
    • Review all legal documentation, tax structure and escalate any concerns
  • Prepare approval memoranda and assist presenting the transaction to Credit Committee.
  • Attend Bank meetings with Risk Director
  • Interface as necessary with internal functions (finance, tax, environmental and legal) during deal execution process

Qualifications / requirements:

-          Proven competency of working within a Leveraged Finance team, ideally within  a Lead Arranged team.

-          Strong Analytical skills.

-          Proven Financial-modelling expertise.

-          European language skills (English, German, French)

-          Able to build key relationships at all levels within the organisation.

-          Is able to work independently as well as working as part of a team.

-          Ability to present ideas in a concise and considered manner.

-          Attention to detail

-          High levels of drive and motivation.

-          Ability to operate in a pressurised team managing multiple deadlines.

-          Has a working knowledge of FSA regulation

-          Strong PC skills including PowerPoint / Excel.

Desired:

-          Experience of closing deals.

-          Bachelors degree in business, finance or related discipline

-          Experience of working within a matrix management environment.
