Department overview

Markit BOAT is a MiFID-compliant trade reporting platform which enables investment firms to meet their pre-trade quoting and post-trade reporting obligations for all European OTC equity trades. The platform collects, collates, validates and stores OTC trade data and publishes it to the market in real-time. Over 30 leading investment firms use Markit BOAT to meet their OTC equity MiFID reporting obligations. Markit BOAT captures and publishes over 70% of the daily volume of OTC trades in the EEA, delivering unrivalled and validated transparency to this previously obscure market.

Markit BOAT uses proven exchange software developed by our technology partner, Cinnober. Their platform, TRADExpress, is a scalable, high performance, low latency platform for transaction processing.

The Markit BOAT team manages and administers this platform for all of the client firms, plan, determines its future direction and identifies ways to improve the service and the data quality of the platform.
