The Company The Investment Management Technology Group is responsible for providing technology solutions to support the Japan and Asia Pacific Investment Management teams. The team are the point of contact for any IT related issue for the Investment Management business users. The team provides local, regional, and global systems and services to users in the region. The leading investment management firm has major offices in Hong Kong, Japan, and London - and they work closely with the US based organisation who provide business and IT services to this division of the business. The Role This is a key role within the team and the successful candidate will liaise with the various business and systems groups to assist with the application development and support for the region. This would also be a leadership role for some projects within Asia, leading the team through the project lifecycle. In addition, the BA would be expected to gather user requirements, resolve functional issues, provide application support and ensure the successful implementation of systems. The individual will need to be professional in their approach, taking ownership of work and imparting business knowledge to the systems’ team members and the global IM Systems community. The BA also needs to support the data environment in local and global systems. They will participate in analysis, design, development, testing and support efforts related to the various systems used by this firm’s Fund Managers in the Asia region. The successful applicant will have 6+ years experience in financial systems and systems development. Identifying & Documenting Business Requirements - Oversee the origination and management of firm initiatives with multiple business and technical stakeholders
- Understand existing systems functions and liaison with Business teams
- Preparation of Business Requirements documents
Translating Business Requirements to System Requirements - Prepare project scope documents
- Analyse and recommend modifications to applications and business procedures
- Propose logical and physical system design
Quality Assurance & UAT - Develop and execute quality test plans for the system rollout
- Support the preparation of user acceptance testing and user procedures
Ability to Lead Project Teams Throughout a SDLC - Ability to work with clients and ensure delivery of the complete solution
- Working with other teams and groups around the world
- Able to create a clear partnership with the business
- Work with the dev manager to ensure the delivery of quality systems
- Coordinate hardware and software installations with other system teams
- Perform data load and cutover/migration analysis
- Organize training to users and prepare training materials
- Document user feedback
Provide On-going System Production & User Support - Tasks include problem diagnosis and resolution analysis
- Liaise regionally and globally to follow through support items
- Understand the data environment and create automated/ad-hoc reports
Your Profile Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Management with 5-8 years of work experience as a Systems Analyst or Business Analyst preferably gained in the financial services industry. Experience in the investment management industry on equity and fixed income products is a plus in addition to the following: - Experience of providing global systems solutions & knowledge of internationalisation aspects
- Experience in business process improvement and business analysis
- Exposure to Agile software development approach and rapid development
- Capable of facilitating meetings and leading project discussions
- Ability to create/present executive level reports and presentations
- Experience of Sybase/Oracle/SQL Server. SQL knowledge (1-3 years)
- Programming experience is a plus.
- Good working knowledge of Citrix Terminal Server, MS Office & other Windows’ applications
- Familiar with investment management, research, trading processes, fund accounting and market index data would be an advantage
- Ability to work to strict development standards for implementing commercial systems
- Experience of working with multi-cultural teams in a geographically diverse environment
