Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:
System Administrator is responsible for smooth operation of all Front-end systems and applications. This position includes the process of installing, controlling, configuring and debugging front-end applications and systems. The System Administrator is also responsible for solving technical issues by providing known solutions (e.g.: optimize configuration settings of an application and system). They need to have very good troubleshooting experience in Linux environment. This individual is also responsible in setting up and maintaining client specific environments to help launch client solutions in a timely fashion.
System Administrator will be part of Front-end team assisting in managing and coordinating technical efforts for implementing, maintaining and remediation activities in the development areas with a solid background in the technical aspects of operations activities.
System Administrator will work closely with the front-end development, quality assurance, application specialists, production operations, various technical teams and customer facing teams in Germany and US.

Qualifications:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Smooth operation of the front-end systems and related production applications, and workflow process.
Perform application error analysis and troubleshooting during operation.
Function as an interface to several teams like Level-1 customer care team, development team, networking team, etc.
Provide proper documentation in support of these applications and level-1 teams.
Work with appropriate groups in preparing requirements, capacity and performance analysis and planning of all applications.
Work with development team and other teams for optimized application performance in evaluating and integrating new applications.
Have the knowledge and ability to recognize network, data protocol, hardware/OS and application level issues, remediate were possible, else ensure issues are logged, escalated and tracked with the appropriate team for resolution.
Be available on-call out of hours to assist Level-1 operations and application specialist, when production issues require escalation. Willingness to work shifts (24/7).
Participate in change, release, incident, problem management and other workflow activities.
Work with development and quality assurance teams to setup systems and applications for development, test and pre-production environments. Interface and coordinate with IT departments as required
The System Administrator must maintain awareness and understanding of interrelation of existing and potential IDC system infrastructure, data communications, database technology and application recovery to identify potential problems and partner with technical teams to develop / recommend solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Undergraduate degree in computer science, management information systems or equivalent work experience
· System administration experience with minimum of Four (4) to Five (5) years.
· Thorough knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems and experience running multi-program applications on these systems
· Experience in working with load balancers, web servers and application servers.
· Programming experience in at least one scripting language like Perl, Shell
· Knowledge of network concepts, including TCP and multicast
· Problem-solving skills, capacity for abstract thinking and goal-oriented approach
· Customer focus and confident manner on the telephone
· Experience in escalation management
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
· High motivation, ability to work independently and as part of a team, customer service focus and ability to work under pressure
· Background within System operations
· Undergraduate degree in computer science, management information systems or equivalent work experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
· Linux engineer certification or equivalent years working with Linux systems
· German language skills are desirable.
