Department overview Markit MSA is an independent and fully validated Market Share Analysis tool for European Cash Equities. With the backing of the largest players in the European equities markets, Markit MSA provides a transparent market share service, collecting and aggregating an estimated 60% of all cash equity trading in Europe across traditional exchanges, MTFs and OTC markets. Markit MSA is the most stringently validated tool for discovering the key players in the European cash equity markets by specialisation. Markit MSA aggregates and ranks all contributing firms based on their daily validated trading activity. This allows clients to view trading activity by volume or value across single stocks, venues, sectors, indices or user-defined portfolios. Position summary Markit is seeking a Data Analyst to join the Markit MSA team and lead the data analytics efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing best practice approaches to data validation and trade data quality. Duties & accountabilities Main duties will involve extending our trade data verification rules, producing statistical trend analysis and data quality reports, investigating trade data anomalies, on boarding new contributing firms and supporting marketing initiatives by preparing and distributing the product spotlights. Business competencies Education and experience The successful candidate must be able to combine high-level analytical skills with knowledge of the equity market. The ideal candidate would: Be a university graduate or equivalent, preferably in computing Have an understanding of the financial markets - past experience in the equity markets is advantageous Have a high level of proficiency in Excel and Access – VBA experience is desirable Be familiar with database concepts Be experienced in writing and reading PL/SQL Be detail-oriented, thorough, and be able use initiative to solve problems Personal competencies Personal impact Strong analytical and mathematical skills Display energy, drive and stamina.
