Overview of role

We are looking for a highly qualified Quantitative research analyst to join our successful team. Key responsibilities will include; quantitative and risk analysis of hedge funds, portfolios and markets, developing tools to facilitate analysis and offering quantitative input to the investment process.

This role would be suiting someone with 2-3 years commercial experience on the back of highly successful educational achievements. We will be looking for someone to carve out this role and make it their own within the back office / support function with NFC. For the right candidate there may also be the possibility to manage a team of research and database support staff as time progresses.

Essential Skills

• Statistics – probability distributions / PCA / factor analysis
• Market risk analysis – VAR/stress testing and scenario analysis
• Portfolio construction, with demonstratable experience such as Black-Litterman optimization / Markowitz
• Performance attribution analysis, e.g. alpha beta analysis
• Fundamental / economic / Marco research – prepared to present on specific examples
• Advanced programming skills: VBA / Matlab / SQL / C#
• Knowledge of financial software – e.g. Bloomberg, RiskData or FOFIX

Desirable Skills

• Financial engineering background / experience in statistics
• Highly educated to PhD or masters in science / mathematics
• Commercial experience within hedge funds – this is a back office role
