The individual will work in the credit index business that deals with development, setup and operations of new and existing indices.

Position summary

The individual will work in the credit index business that deals with development, setup and operations of new and existing indices.  

Reporting to the Head of North American Credit Indices, the individual will support the management of the Markit CDX index products and help developing the scope and depth of the Markit Credit Index business, including the Markit iBoxx cash bond indices.

Duties & accountabilities

Administering Markit’s North American credit  index products. This will include specifying and implementing index rules, coordination of index rolls and index price publications, supporting the launch of new products and of the marketing new and existing products. 

Manage calls with market participants (traders, operations, lawyers) during the creation of new indices, reviewing index rules changes and produce presentations..

Support the development of scope and depth of the Markit Credit Index business. This involves interacting with clients to understand their needs and communicate findings within the Markit Index and Markit Credit businesses to help ensure we are delivering what they need today and in the future.

The individual will also work closely with clients to setup and administer bespoke credit indices. This includes the design, development and testing of bespoke credit indices to client specifications. After successful development and client sign-off, the daily production of the index will be handed over to the production team.

The individual will possibly assist in the development and creation of new Markit iBoxx bond indices.

Second level support for more specific client queries passed on by the CRT team.

Business Competencies

Education and experience

University graduate.

Working knowledge of derivatives, especially credit derivatives, is required.

A detailed technical knowledge of indices, experience in designing and developing indices is preferred, but not a must.

Commercial Awareness

High degree of commercial awareness. Needs to be motivated by commercial impact.

We need someone who is detail oriented enough to build high quality, superior products, but commercial enough not to be lost in the detail or unable to go on with the next task.

Personal impact

Pleasant personality, other people will need to want to work with him/her as the individual will not have direct reports.

Looking for someone that is enthusiastic, energetic, detail oriented, teamplayer.

The individual will have direct high impact on the bottom line of the business and the reputation of Markit Group and Markit Index

Good communication skills with clients and team members is a must.

Presentation skills are necessary.

Teamwork skills are essential.
