The individual will head the Markit Indices business in the US, covering credit derivatives, loan, structured finance, bond, and equity indices.

Position summary

The individual will head the Markit Indices business in the US, covering credit derivatives, loan, structured finance, bond, and equity indices.

In this role, the individual will be responsible for the governance, new product development, marketing, and revenues of the indices, and to establish Markit Indices as the premier index provider in the US market for the chosen asset classes and markets.

The individual will be part of senior management of Markit Indices and be a key participant in setting and implementing the strategy of the business.

The individual will be supported by teams covering Index Design, Index Administration, and Index Technology located globally.

Duties & accountabilities

The individual will work closely with dealers, asset managers, other clients, and the prewss to identify and promote business opportunities and grow the busines.

The indices should improve Markit’s relationships with the clients and provide brand exposure., by being of high quality and sufficiently differentiated from the competition.

A large part of the job will be working with dealers on the various governance boards to establish a credible index offering that competes successfully with incumbents, or defend markets where Markit is the incumbent market leaders.

A detailed technical knowledge of bond and credit indices is required, as well as a keen commercial sense and ability to lead others.

The individual will report to Stephan Flagel. Teams the individual will work with are the US CDS and Structured Finance Index teams (CDX, MCDX, ABX, CMBX) and the equity index group.

In the US, the three staff responsible for the existing bond and credit derivative indices will report directly to the new hire.

The individual needs to be energetic, a team player, and bond/credit index expert with technical knowledge

Business Competencies

Education and experience

Advanced degree in Finance, Math, Economics, or Business required.

At least five years experience in designing, marketing, administering, or researching indices for cash bonds and other asset classes traded over the counter.

If less education than required, we would expect the experience to be longer.

Market relationships are a plus.

Management Experience

At least three years of management experience is favoured but not required. The individual is expected to be a strong team player, with proven track-record of working with people, including people that are not functionally tied to him/her.

Commercial Awareness

High degree of commercial awareness. Needs to be motivated by commercial impact.

We need someone who is detail oriented enough to build high quality, superior products, but commercial enough to be focused on the building the business..

Personal impact

Pleasant personality, other people will need to want to work with him/her as the individual will not have direct reports.

Looking for somone that is enthusiastic, energetic, detail oriented, teamplayer.

The individual will have direct high impact on the bottom line of the bsuiness and the reputation of Markit Group and Markit Index.

Communication

Good communication skills with clients and team members is a must.

Teamwork is very important.
