This Java Developer position require PMs candidates with exceptional technical and communication skills. The successful candidate will have prior experience in developing trading systems, and will be required to acquire an in-depth understanding of the equities markets. Prior experience with multi-threaded environments with at least some experience in application architecture and design is also required. As one of a group of new hires in Hong Kong the position is central to the success of the firm and as such the client are looking for a talented technical professional that is capable of engaging the business and leveraging their skills and ability to innovate to continue the impressive growth and profile the firm have achieved in Europe & Canada.

Main duties & responsibilities:

• Core developer on trading systems and smart order routing tools product development team
• Technical Design and documentation
• Work closely with senior management and clients
• Assist in defining new standards in response to industry trends

Essential Competencies:

• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize own workload and work to exacting deadlines
• Flexible and adaptable in approach to business needs
• Desire to learn about new products and keep abreast of new product developments
• Must have excellent follow-up skills

Education & Experience:

• Degree educated in an IT discipline
• Software Developer with expert knowledge of Java
• Extensive experience in working with distributed high throughput applications
• Good understanding of software design patterns
• In-depth knowledge of FIX protocol is essential
• Knowledge of network protocols would be beneficial
• Prior experience working in financial field as a software developer, preferably with trading systems, is ideal.
• Good general knowledge of financial markets.
