BGI is currently undertaking a significant and exciting project to introduce a Hedge Funds & Derivatives Platform (HF&DP), a strategic solution designed to support growing hedge fund products and exponential growth in derivatives usage across investment strategies.

BGI is currently undertaking a significant and exciting project to introduce a Hedge Funds & Derivatives Platform (HF&DP), a strategic solution designed to support growing hedge fund products and exponential growth in derivatives usage across investment strategies. The platform will provide global Middle Office services supporting the needs of Derivatives Operations, Derivatives Control and Investment Risk.

The Manager, Infrastructure Technology Support will lead and manage the Shared Services Group within the HF&DP department. The ideal candidate should be naturally curious, passionate about solving business problems through high-quality solutions, and demonstrate flexibility in meeting the needs of a challenging, fast-paced business environment. The Shared Services Group is responsible for supporting the build and deployment process and production support, serving internal customers in San Francisco, London and Tokyo.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, mentor and direct a team of dedicated technical infrastructure professionals to support the Middle Office worldwide production environment ensuring satisfaction with internal (market facing and technology) customers in the US, London and Tokyo.
  • Direct, lead, and support the build & deployment process (code development, QA & deployment into production). Maintain and enhance the automation of the build and deployment pipeline.
  • Provide monitoring of production processes and ensure successful and timely jobs completion.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain consistent performance, memory usage and load balancing.
  • Interface with internal customers to develop Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and provide user support.
  • Provide services and tools to the development teams to facilitate the development process.
  • Liaise with Global IT Infrastructure. Manage and track resource demands from the general Infrastructure pool, ensuring appropriate and sufficient Infrastructure support is provided on a timely basis.
  • As a member of the HF&DP senior management team, actively participate in strategy setting for the overall project.

    Qualifications

  • Ten plus years experience in technology, with prior experience in the financial industry preferred. Understanding of trading technologies is a big plus.
  • Min. of five plus years of management experience managing, mentoring and directing a team of IT Infrastructure professionals.
  • Demonstrated hands on experience managing production support in a distributed client/server environment including: storage & capacity planning, performance turning, in a UNIX, Sun Oracle, Linux environment.
  • Experience with Ant, Cruise Control, UNIX/Shell Scripting, Fit/Fitnesse, Other test harnesses, Source Control (SVN or CVS).
  • Experience in full life cycle enterprise development projects required.
  • Prior experience bringing best practices into an environment to develop greater efficiencies and capabilities to the team.
  • Successful track record of providing high level of service to a customer base within a team environment. Solid understanding of team dynamics and ability to be proactive in mentoring of others. Strong teamwork, customer focus, and relationship-building skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid environment handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently while implementing best practices and focusing on attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and strong work ethic. Responsive and proactive.
  • Enjoys solving technical and business problems and open to new technology and processes.
  • Experience with Calypso production support is a big plus.
