The rates group is expected to keep pace with technical, policy and accounting developments including assessment of the impact of any changes therein to the bank’s activities. The commodities product area will be incorporated into this team by the end of the year.

Main responsibilities

To manage the Rates team ensuring the right mix of skills and experience

Ensure that staff are trained, motivated, developed and appraised

Manage delivery of the monthly valuation packs to time and quality requirements

Review of current processes and procedures with a view to identifying efficiencies and delivering solutions

Representation of the rates function to senior levels of the Bank’s management

Extensive liaison with Risk functions to ensure that all functions have a clear and unambiguous view of roles and responsibilities and work together to solve issues

Experience required:

Good first degree in a quantitative discipline. MSc preferable but not essential

ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred but not essential

Extensive experience of Rates products from a background in either Product Control and/or Risk

Good working knowledge of full product spectrum from vanilla to exotic

Understanding of risk and excellent technical product knowledge

Robust personality with the presence to manage the Rates team and represent the team in discussions and meetings with senior trading staff and product controllers.
